Consorzio per il Centro Interuniversitario di Biologia Marina ed ecologia Applicata “G. Bacci” – CIBM
CIBM is a non-profit private law association which conducts environmental surveys for the realization of dredgins, installation of cables and pipelines, analysis of pollutants, studies and assessments on the environmental impact, management of fish resources and marine protected areas, etc.
CIBM promotes advanced and specialized scientific activity (supporting university and post-university research in the environmental field), and it carries out consultancy activities for public and private bodies to protect the marine and coastal environment.
CIBM will evaluate the dispersion of contaminants from the ports and potential effects on the ecological quality of protected areas (MPA). The goals are: 1) to define the level of chemical contamination in the ports and MPA nearby, in relation to the microbial component 2) to quantify the vulnerability due to the dispersion of possible contaminants through a series of biological indices (abundance, fertility rates, degree of genetic variability, gene expression pattern, biomakers, bioaccumulation of trace elements), measured in populations of Pachygrapsus marmoratus.
